What flowers are in season for Easter?

We're big fans of Easter here at LVLY - long weekend? Tick. Plenty of time with friends and family? Tick. Eating our body weight in chocolate? Tick, tick, tick.

Hosting a big family and friends get together over the Easter weekend is a must. There's nothing better than indulging in delicious food on a beautifully decorated table with your loved ones. As your putting the finishing touches to your Easter decorating, it's important not to forget the flowers for your tablescape.

Easter falls during autumn in Australia, so the types of flowers that are commonly associated with Easter may differ from those in other parts of the world. Some popular flowers for Easter in Australia include:

Tulips

A firm favourite here at LVLY! These colourful guys come back into season around Easter and come in many vibrant colours. Before the bulbs are fully open, we think tulips almost resemble a bunch of bright Easter eggs!

Best displayed in a cute tall vase, tulips make the perfect Easter floral decoration for a traditional Sunday lunch. Not only that, these blooms are fairly long lasting, so will stick around long after the chocolate eggs have been devoured.

Chrysanthemums

Chrysanthemums (also know as Mum Flowers) come in many shapes and sizes. Colours range from white to pink, purple, yellow, bronze and everything in between. These pretty flowers come into bloom in Autumn, so they make the perfect Easter flower.

Chrysanthemums also make a great Mother’s Day gift, which falls just over a month after Easter.

Sim Carnations

We’re calling it - Carnations are cool again! Anything that comes in a range of pastel shades just screams ‘Easter’ to us. Carnations are a triple threat - they look great, they’re long lasting and they are versatile. They look just as good displayed by themselves as they do paired alongside other blooms in an arrangement. A 10/10 Easter flower!

Easter Daisies

It doesn't get much cuter than an Easter Daisy! These dainty fellas are hardier than they look and make a great addition to any Easter flower arrangement.

Although not technically in season in Australia right now, we couldn’t write about Easter flowers without mentioning these iconic blooms. These traditional Easter flowers are found in yellow or white shades and can occasionally be found in orange or pink too. These trumpet shaped flowers come into season in Spring and are associated with happiness and hope.
